In my native language German we call this period between the holidays and the New Year “in between the years”. With the last big celebration of the year in the rearview and the anticipation for the upcoming year slowly building, this time of year is one of my most favorite ones. It is usually much slower paced and intentional. Perfect for setting your eyes on your hopes and goals for the next year.

Have you ever heard of ‘unclaimed property’? I hadn’t until last week. I stumbled upon an article that described how almost all States have laws in place that safeguard assets you may technically own but have likely completely forgotten about (e.g. uncashed checks, inactive bond and stock accounts, forgotten utility deposits). With just a few clicks you can search each State’s database of unclaimed property, demonstrate that you are the rightful owner and get your money.
